In order to best minimize changes to the usual soundscape, I built a completely invisible recording system hiding the microphones inside the headphones which I was wearing around the neck (as some locals also do). The digital recorder was hidden inside a small bag. Also, whenever possible I toured the markets with some local guides.
I employed two recording techniques: soundwalking (stopping in places with particularly characteristic sonorities) and that of standing in a critical area with flows of transiting sonorities.
The microphones were placed in binaural mode, or AB or XY.
